Since its founding in 1977, the aim of the Taste of Texas® Restaurant has always included the professional and personal development of the many young people who work at the restaurant. With that in mind, founders and owners, Edd and Nina Hendee, began offering scholarship funds to employees to help alleviate the costs of their education through the proceeds from ticket sales to special events. After Hurricane Harvey hit, many customers kindly reached out to the restaurant, asking to make donations to an employee disaster relief fund. As a result, the Taste of Texas Foundation was incoported in September of 2017.
The mission of the Taste of Texas Foundation is to develop the lives of the employees of the Taste of Texas® Restaurant through scholarship funding in addition to disaster and other hardships relief while also contributing to the betterment of the local community and veterans groups.
